Inspiration

Inspiration can come from anywhere; from the shoreline of the ocean, river, lake or one of the great lakes (essentially any body of water); from a sleeping baby; from a poignant piece of music; from a moving poem; from a gorgeous work of art; or even from the message inside a Dove chocolate!  I will confess to having been inspired by each of these things in my own life.

It occurs to me that the root of the word inspiration is “inspire.”  Inspire is also the word that describes breathing IN – a literal filling up of our lungs with the necessary oxygen that we need in order to breathe and to live.  In a world that is struggling through the pandemics of COVID-19 and racial disparity, we find that our lives have been stripped back to the essentials.  If ever there was a time that we need to be inspired, it is now.  Our bodies/spirits need to breathe in more than just oxygen. We need to be able to breathe in those things that give us hope, joy, peace and a buoyant, creative spirit.  My hope is that these inspiration writings will do just that: to help you to breathe in – breathe in peace and hope – breathe in what your spirit needs to live and thrive.
